Voyagers, By: Kit Terrell

December 13, 2023 by Kit Terrell

Voyagers, By: Kit Terrell

There is a chill on my cheek and I know it cannot be an accident
The pillars are there. Are they just a squiggle I am turning into a goldmine?
Am I just feeling the wind with hands meant to tear leaves off of trees?
Is that all I’m meant for?

There is a music in the air and I know it cannot be an accident
The stars are there. And they’ve always been there.
As long as I’ve been here they have been there.
Is that all there is?

I feel this blood rush in my arm and I know I am meant for more.
The voyagers fly with unbridled power just as I will.
Just as I will rust and decay in the night singing to myself.
This can’t be what I was meant for.

There is a chill on my cheek and it may be my own hand
The dot on my face is just an excretion of chemicals just like my head.
Just as I am.
And I always will be.
