A Creation Myth, By: Edward Alport

May 10, 2024 by Edward Alport

A Creation Myth, By: Edward Alport

When God made milk, The Devil made cheese;
took the milk and sacrificed the calf for which it flowed.
He sucked its stomach dry and churned the milk
to make the dry land, pattered it into stalagmites and left it to decay
for forty weeks in caverns deep,
while God made man and lost him to a woman
(story of my life).
‘Hey’, he said, insinuating himself along a drooping branch.
‘Want some cheese to go with that apple?
‘Tastes way better than milk.’
