Self Preservation, By: Samuel Okereke

June 6, 2024 by Samuel Okereke

Self Preservation, By: Samuel Okereke

No matter how hard I try to relax I always seem to be hyper alert of my surroundings

Some call it a curse, but I am fully aware of the strength of the tongue so I chose to call it self preservation

You ever feel like you can’t put a foot right, I should cut it off

You ever had to take a break from making mistakes then realised it was mistake

I can’t let my hair down for a minute

I can’t stop chasing the feelings of my childhood

I’m too far gone, aren’t I ?

My toes fingers and palms twitchy, sweaty

I’m tired of the constant thoughts, but I can’t stop now, my city needs me.

Sometimes you have to let go of the demons even though they’re the only ones that understand you.

For the sake of self preservation
