The Life Philosophy Of Alexa, By: Hongwei Bao

December 2, 2024 by Hongwei Bao

The Life Philosophy Of Alexa, By: Hongwei Bao

In the morning, waking me up with piercing alarms,
as if the whole building was on fire. Alexa calmly announces:
‘There’s nothing scheduled for the day.’
I wish my boss would say the same thing.

In the evening: ‘Now, here’s local news.’
Dead silence. Perhaps she sees nothing important worth mentioning
She then moves on to weather forecast:
‘It will be dry tomorrow but there will be showers.’

At night: ‘The sky is clear; the clouds will move in and out.’
As if the clouds were merely naughty children
playing hide-and-seek games in a safe environment.
Or if anyone would be interested in observing them all night.

No matter what war or turmoil going on in the world,
or in my life, Alexa always keeps her cheerful voice.
If you ever ask her about her secret to happiness,
she pretends: ‘Umm, I don’t know what you mean.’
