Treachery, By: Steven Mcdonald

February 21, 2025 by Steven Mcdonald

Treachery, By: Steven Mcdonald

Treachery is black
And blood is red
I know many things
That remain unsaid

Some play checkers
While I play chess
I know I am right
I don’t have to guess

Behaviors, mannerisms, comments and looks
The shit I read
You don’t find in books

Whispers  that go on
Behind my back
I’ll figure it out
Because I have that knack

I like to play dumb
Pretend I’m a mute
But the real truth is
I’m rather astute

It’s partly a gift
And often a curse
If it was up to me
They’d  be in a hearse

I just play dumb
Act like I don’t know
But im eagerly awaiting
This hand I will show

One things for sure
They get a surprise
When they all find out
I’m not other guys

There are those that have
Insulted my name
And eventually they learn
I win at this game

It might take some time
Or it might be real soon
But I’ll get my revenge
And they’ll hear me croon

You’re a hot shot now
But soon you’ll shut up.
It won’t be that long
Before I empty your cup.
