On The Threshold Of A Sorrow, By: Irma Kurti

March 3, 2025 by Irma Kurti

On The Threshold Of A Sorrow, By: Irma Kurti

I would like to enter your great sorrow
as though entering a well that is dark,
share with you tears and anxieties, listen
to the thin, trembling voice of your heart.

I have often entered the suffering spirit of
my friends and have cried for them like a
child. Sometimes my days were so gray,
it seemed to me that this life wasn’t mine.

The indifference of people has struck my
body and soul like a whip; the anguish
has taken refuge in my wound. It is still
there, and it never wants to leave me.

Today, maybe only today, I prefer to stay
on the threshold of your sorrow so as not
to be carried away by rivers of tears into
the abyss without any lights or glow.

I’ll stay on the threshold of your sorrow…
