Temptation And Love, By: Andrew Cyr

March 11, 2025 by Andrew Cyr

Temptation And Love, By: Andrew Cyr

I shouldn’t have,
but I gave an inch
to temptation,
and oh my God
it took me through
a green river
with salt water,
stinging my loneliness,
and flowing through
my veins.

I had an itch
to call Ava
to drop her
love bombs.

She had a pretty
name for a tortured
soul with an afterglow
of God’s favorite angel.

Ava’s long, red hair spiraled
to the small of her back
back when I looked
her over in class.

God taught me more
than I’d wanted to know
about lust and how to resist

that part I hadn’t figured out.
Ava’s kindness guided me
to her couch to read a book
and showed me around her
house.

Somehow, we ended up where
we are now ten years later.

Married and together in bed.
