The Ending, By: Allison Walters Luther

June 9, 2025 by Allison Walters Luther

The Ending, By: Allison Walters Luther

Her eyes of blue
And the tears they shed
At the slamming of the door
And the pain in her head

Too late to save it
Too early to be free
Trite fucking platitudes
“It’s not you, it’s me”

Promises to be broken
And silences to keep
Questions left unanswered
No peace to sleep

Screams become whispers
In the space between
Two once joined
Now only darkness seen

She stands alone
As she always knew
How it would end
“It’s not me, it’s you.”
