I Sing A Dirge, By: Peter Okonkwo

September 21, 2026 by Peter Okonkwo

Grief Is A Scab, By: Steven Mcdonald

Loneliness,
grave aloneness when no one is listening.

Searching love,
when leaves betray their fruit before they are ripen.

Listen,
my words have been falling on deaf ears that remember nothing.

Expression,
My feelings feel like rambling collections of a crier that needs to be pacified.

Love me,
Parts of my heart are empty, bleeding, lend me some of your blood to afresh it.

Look into my eyes,
How is it so hard for you to see what a treasure you are to me.

Let go,
It only takes a while for a bird to fly so high away it can never be reached.

Healing,
I sorrow as old memories swiftly fade away.

Grief,
I sing a dirge to what is present, yet absent.
