Deadlock, By: Lydia Jayne

May 21, 2024 by Lydia Jayne

Deadlock, By: Lydia Jayne

Where now are the words?
The nib is broken
The cartilage blocked
The code deleted
The key board locked
The screen is frozen
The voice is mute
All led away
By the Armani suits
In a dark corner hides Shakespeare’s fears
While youth runs mad with the will of King Lear
The warnings of Dickens burn in my mind
My generation is now left behind.
Is it too much obscured?
Can you hear the beat
of the coming warfare
in the muffled feet of our children
as the hurry down lanes
which leave behind cities
and head for the plains
Now no where is sacred
No rest in my bed
I can not escape
These thoughts in my head
So
Where is the word now?
The nib is broken
The cartridge blocked
The code deleted
The keyboard locked.
The unspoken word,
Unspeakable still
Now will you listen?
I know that I will.
