Doors Of Opportunity, By: Andrew Cyr

March 1, 2024 by Andrew Cyr

Doors Of Opportunity, By: Andrew Cyr

Just when I needed
to enter a store
for some smokes
I approached
a closed door.
After dark, twinkling
stars applauded the evening.
I pushed curse words
that cast a vapor through
the Pacific Northwest
winter chill that bit
my tongue as my resolution
had been to pause my swearing.
Such was the story
of my life on support
unplugged from love’s arms.
One door after another
was closed.
Could the happiness
that I’d been waiting
for all my life be behind
that door?
If so, what was I waiting for?
Life begins on the other side.
And I’m alright with the pain
on this side of the divide
just to be the best for the
goddess on the other side.
