November Rekindled, By: Andrew Cyr

November 28, 2023 by Andrew Cyr

November Rekindled, By: Justin Cyr

Magical yearnings baked in bedazzled eyes
taken by surprise over Loren,
a woman I’d met three Novembers ago.
We’d lost contact after
she left for Alabama.
But here I sit, sipping coffee,
a coat zipped to my chin
as a palatable breeze brushes my cheek.
I speak, but only my breath
escapes as a vapor from my lips.
I observe lovers
strolling through the walkway,
giving me advice with their silence.
The passersby stuck their senses
in the present tense.
Communication required no talking,
and love’s absence in my life
needed to end before sunset.
A grin tugged at the corner
of my mouth as the warmth
of a crush washed across my face.
I shifted my gaze to Loren,
sitting on a bench, feet away,
and her alluring gaze undressed my loneliness.
I returned a smile that unfolded
the gratitude brought this Thanksgiving.
And thankfully, no one is lonely now
