Shiny, By: Paul White

October 7, 2024 by Paul White

Shiny, By: Paul White

Today I set a friend free
I say a friend, but we rarely spoke
I texted and received apologies
And promises of future chats
With beers and good times

I was getting over a hard time
Sad news that wasn’t welcome
And my home-life had to change
We were no longer co-located
But the city is small and opportunities many

Except it wasn’t, and they weren’t.

Today I set a friend free
I’m sad, but I’ll get over it
I guess he already has
And found others more shiny than I
