Words Fight Wars, By: Andrew Cyr

January 4, 2024 by Andrew Cyr

Words Fight Wars, By: Andrew Cyr

I surfed through TV channels.
It’s Israelis this and Palestinians that
bombs exploding on heads
in the desert.
In the claim for innocence,
we label the dead as terrorists.
Violence breeds a distorted vengeance
for revenge, killing people merely
wanting to live their lives.
But cowardly men hide in tunnels
while those above die by happenstance.
People could not escape the fate planned
by the evil lurking beneath.
Even terrorists know the world
has a conscience, and when they bomb Israel,
and hide underground; civilians would die
and the world will call for a ceasefire.
Terrorists accomplished their goals because
our message to the innocent falls on deaf ears.
If only we listened to both sides of good intentions
and killed an idea with reason, we’ll all win.
