Tools Of The Trade, By: Gabby Gilliam

May 10, 2024 by Gabby Gilliam

Tools of the Trade, By: Gabby Gilliam

Joints scream their opposition
as flesh folds in on itself
aged limbs grasping for matched Fruit
of the Loom white cotton
slide it over outstretched foot
toes cocooned, ready for a day
spent in the damp darkness
tennis shoe caves essential
for the business of making cheese.

[This is a Featured Poem from our Spring 2024 Poetry Contest.]
