Hard Pass, By: Andrew Cyr

March 14, 2025 by Editors

Hard Pass, By: Andrew Cyr

It shouldn’t be,
oh, but it is,
life it’s hard
enough, and hot
enough to boil
on a Georgia sidewalk
during an after school
special because God knows
there’s nothing special
about Evelyn’s long, red hair
that she wrapped around
her neck.
And so what if her green eyes pierce
my soul?
The thought of her in bed drives me wild.
So, what?
I’m harder than I should be,
but she’s hot enough to break
the brisk December breeze
with a summer sun
as we sin beneath a peach tree.
