I Will Find the Night, By: Thomas Hemminger

February 22, 2024 by Thomas Hemminger

I Will Find the Night, By: Thomas Hemminger

I have lost the night.

This concrete kingdom blisters,
and the cool air is pushed out.
The clamor of mechanized living
profanes the peace of evening.
The light from our busyness
pollutes the sky,
and veils the silent sentinels
where they shine.

I will steal away
and find the night again.
I will find it coming after the
misty breezes following autumn showers.
I will find it streaming over the treetops
where the sun stops reaching.
I will find those seas of stars,
and let their dreamwaters wash over me…

until I am found refreshed.
