Remains, By: Emily Key

November 26, 2024 by Emily Key

Remains, By: Emily Key

too soon I place the sports

coats across the bed

someone will pick through

them after I drop them off

I look for them at Goodwill

buy one back and bring it home

boots sit at closet’s back

your feet done with walking

your shaving kit in a far cabinet

necessary things now unnecessary

I sit in the chair formed to your body, not mine

your number still in my phone

once it rang, heard gentle air, or breathing

I’m not sure, nor do I want to be
