Tomorrow, By: Gary Beck

August 22, 2024 by Gary Beck

Tomorrow, By: Gary Beck

Many of us live in high rises,
at least those still privileged.
The mass of our citizens
live in decrepit housing
still somewhat better
than the plight of the homeless,
existing marginally
wherever they can,
children automatically doomed
by non-comforting environment,
some with initial success
through their smart phones
if they’re lucky enough to get one.
They may not play learning games,
but they know how to push buttons
that may give some a chance
for work in the service industry,
the biggest employer
now that the government
has diminished functions
for a sure percentage
of the taxpayer class,
only the 1% of consequence,
the miniscule middle class
struggles to retain comforts,
the working poor easily discarded,
everyone else callously dismissed
having lost intrinsic value
to an inbred oligarchy.
