Not A Fool Nor A Pop Culture 2ooL, By: Laquan White

Not A Fool Nor A Pop Culture 2ooL, By: Laquan White

I see the constant uptick
Of apartments being built
That aren’t affordable
Hence the reason hotels are at capacity

The central sides sunshine
Makes my skin cry
Observing adolescents carelessly
Running away from distracted parents

Ain’t hard to tell it’s Friday
DoorDash Burger King
smells Linger in the Hallways
End of the week relief

The hardworking never seem
To get deserved wages
Meanwhile streamers getting paid out
For engagement

I have a confession
I’m easily irritated
By couples bickering
And witnessing public displays of affection

Have you heard of headphones?
Whether a conversation
Or top 40 radio
I’d rather not hear it

Dropped out of college
Cartier AP watch on your wrist
Betty boop sitting on a goat pendant
On your necklace

Used to freestyle
In the front seat of your car
contest held for fans
Which you never planned to pay at all

Stealing songs
Long as you
chasing your dreams
It’s not wrong

Clock it
With no pressure
You indecisive
Or a big flexher?

You either sink or swim
In this broken system
Don’t run from the past
Rather embrace it

Just a little bit of game
Thrown like a
house party
Difference is This kid don’t play

Mother brother and sister
Passed away
To heal you thought you had to
Self harm

Identity crisis at 20 to some
Sounds like growth to me
Teanna told me I’m wasting my life away
I wonder how

I’m not a fool
nor a pop culture tool
stay true to yourself
Don’t be pressured to sell out

Others complain and pout
‘Bout lash techs and CNAs
Look in the mirror and ask yourself
If you’ve lost your way?

Blaming the city you’re from
Or any and everyone?
Nothings more important
Than accountability

I had an Atlanta Dream
That I touched a Chicago Sky
Said you a Sacramento king
Caught in a Chris Web of lies

While they live life
By their facebook status
Figure out what your passionate about
And go be GREAT at it……
