Emily Dickinson Poems

Poetry Catalog Poems archive

Emily Dickinson (1830–1886) was an American poet from Amherst, Massachusetts, whose short, compressed lyrics—built on hymn meter, slant rhyme, dashes, and startling capitals—turn on death, nature, faith, love, and the inner life. Only a handful of her poems were printed while she lived; from “I’m Nobody! Who are you?” to “I heard a Fly buzz—when I died,” the work published after her death made her one of the most original poets in English.

Read a fuller life sketch on our About Emily Dickinson page. This Poetry Catalog archive gathers 454 poems by Dickinson now live on the site—listed A–Z below, with links to each full text. The texts follow the early printed editions (Roberts Brothers, 1890–1896; Little, Brown, 1914–1929), and new poems are added to this list as they are published.
